I

am a Nairobi based Kenyan photographer, Web designer, cartoonist, illustrator and graphic designer. I have been doing illustrations as long as I can remember and started making money off it when in class five!.

How you ask?, I used to draw comic books and charge 2 Kshs to read, creating illustrated quotes for neighbours as wall hangings etc. Being a good artist has always made my life pleasant save for the times I had to be sent from school to buy a packet of chalk after being caught entertaining classmates on the blackboard and many other similar incidents(yeah..like when I drew the School bully).

I had anticipated to learn art as a subject in High school but the school I was taken to never had art in their curriculum. I later founded an arts club where artist in the school met and exchanged ideas, through this club we were able to get art tutors during after-class hours. We were also able to interact with other schools that studied art though art related functions and club activities.

Evolution of Hmurimi

hmurimi stated as Crude structure which I contructed from my first earnings from Maneno Magazine as an Illustrator. Then I used to do mostly crafts like knitting, signwritting, making and repairing sandals etc in between illustration job which were not very regular.
It provided me with basic needs. since I started living by my own means two years after high school. in spite of a few odds like lack of college education I had to start somewhere.

After a few years later I landed a higher profile illustration job with energizer, bought a computer and set up a computer services bureau few miters away from my other job. I took time to learn graphic design softwares though help files found on those programs. I got better as a graphic designer and with no time a high a long list of regular clients.

I ventured into Video and animation but later dropped this services to narrow my focus. When Internet services became available I acquired a connection and using the many free tutorials found on the net learned Web design, hmurimi.com became my first project. Going online accelerated my growth and I had to find a larger and decent space.



This is the birth place of hmurimi.com the place still runs. I choose not to close it and employed someone to run it
